Programs & Initiatives

The Jackson-Madison County Education Foundation was originally established in the 1990s as part of a project for Leadership Jackson aimed at fundraising and awareness for the local school system.

The Foundation works directly with the Jackson-Madison County School System to provide the necessary financing for programs, projects, and initiatives that fulfill student needs identified by JMCSS. These can include facility improvements and upgrades, after-school programs, professional development for teachers and TAs, awareness campaigns, and anything else designed to ensure that our public school students have the tools and opportunities to reach their full potential.

ACT 30+ Club Luncheon

The Foundation is proud to be a part of this initiative that rewards any student who makes a score of 30 or above on their ACT with a laptop and a luncheon.

Liberty High Auditorium Modernization

Currently, the Jackson-Madison County school district lacks an adequate sound and lighting system for arts productions such as theatrical plays, choir, band shows, and other assemblies. A grant has been approved to redesign the Liberty High auditorium with a permanent, high-quality sound and lighting system for these uses.

JMCSS Literacy Bus

A continuation of the successful "Leap Up for Literacy" campaign promoting district-wide literacy and community awareness, the "JMCSS Literacy Bus" mobile literacy lab will bring books and resources into more neighborhoods and provide an opportunity for parents to get involved with their child's reading.

META STEM Innovation High School Center

The STEM Innovation High School Center will offer the most innovative instructional programming for high school students in Tennessee. Designed as a school-within-a-school model, students will receive their math, science, and elective instruction at META and receive their ELA, social studies, and physical education courses at their home school.

SAY Something Assemblies

These interactive assemblies will use storytelling and music to communicate important messages to students about sensitive topics that could impact their future, such as bullying, suicide, exploitation, and addiction.
